encouraged to share State specific
concerns. Education livelihood and
health were the major concerns
shared by the group. The session
emphasised the need for
re-enforcing an integrated
approach by highlighting the
linkages between life skills and
gender equality. The aim was to
show young people how to take
charge of their own lives and
health.

a magic show on population
stabilisation and encouraged the
participants to think beyond the
stereo-typed responses with the
help of group activities. The
session was effective in
identifying the existing
population problems and drawing
simple solutions, keeping in mind
a correct attitude to life.

Session III: Learning Life Skills
Importance of life skills for the
development of young people was
discussed. Three major life skills
i.e. Assertive Communication,
Negotiation and Decision Making
were focused upon. Role-plays were
performed on real life situations
to encourage participation and
better understanding of situations
e.g. when a 17-year-old girl is
asked to discontinue education as
her parents want her to get
married. How would she convince
her parents?

Session IV: Let Yourself Go!

several theatre exercises to
induce positive energy into the participants and then
enable them to relax and
contemplate. The participants
were first put through energetic
physical exercise and then allowed
to relax and meditate about their
current life-styles and how they
can re-design their future.
